Overview
Established in 1816, the Royal Botanic Garden is one of Australia's oldest scientific institutions, spread across 30 hectares beside Sydney Harbour. Mrs Macquarie's Point within the garden offers simultaneous views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge — one of Sydney's best photo spots. Tropical greenhouses, a rose garden, and an Aboriginal plant section are among the themed areas, all free to visit. You'll often spot wild cockatoos and water dragons too.
Opening Hours
Daily 07:00-sunset (closing time varies by month).
Travel Tips
Mrs Macquarie's Chair is the best photo spot to capture both the Opera House and Harbour Bridge in one frame. It's also a lovely spot for a lunchtime picnic.
