Overview
First built around 1060, Vor Frue Kirke is Aarhus's oldest church, originally serving as a Dominican monastery church. Beneath it, the original 11th-century stone church survives intact as the 'Crypt Church,' considered one of Europe's oldest brick structures. The nave holds a 16th-century wooden altarpiece behind the altar, and the old monastery cloister courtyard adds a peaceful atmosphere. Located in the heart of the Latin Quarter and easy to reach on foot. Free entry (a small donation is suggested for the crypt church - details may change).
