Overview
First established in 1600 and moved to its current site in 1870, the University of Copenhagen's botanical garden covers about 10 hectares and houses more than 13,000 plant species. Its historic 1874 glasshouse complex is the star attraction — climb the spiral staircase inside the Palm House to look down over the tropical plants and palms. It's an easy walk from Rosenborg Castle and is a beloved quiet retreat for locals as well as visitors. Gardens free; small fee for the glasshouses (details may change).
