Overview
Donated in 1913 by the son of Carlsberg's founder, this bronze statue based on Andersen's 'The Little Mermaid' is Copenhagen's most iconic landmark. The 1.25m figure sits on a rock in the harbor, and many visitors are surprised by how small she is. Despite repeated vandalism and even theft, she's always been restored, and the waterfront promenade nearby offers lovely harbor views.
Travel Tips
She's small, so manage your expectations. Pair the visit with a walk through Kastellet fortress along the waterfront.
