Overview
The Great Sphinx of Giza is a massive single block of limestone carved into a lion's body with the head of a pharaoh, widely believed to depict King Khafre. Standing 73 meters long and 20 meters tall, it is the largest and oldest monolithic statue in the world, carved roughly 4,500 years ago. Despite its damaged nose, it still keeps watch over the Giza complex as its guardian. The nightly sound-and-light show frames the Sphinx as the narrator of Egypt's history. Admission included with Giza pyramids ticket.
Opening Hours
Daily 08:00-17:00 (sound and light show 19:00, 20:00)
