SIM cards (Vodafone, Orange) available at the airport (EGP 100-300). Cards accepted at hotels and large restaurants, but cash (Egyptian pounds) essential at markets, taxis, and stalls. Restaurant tipping 10-15%; bakshish (small service tips) is part of the culture.

Safety
Be wary of touts and inflated prices near tourist sites. Use Uber rather than street taxis, and women travelling solo should dress modestly.
