Overview
On Luxor's east bank, Karnak is the largest ancient religious complex on earth, expanded by more than 30 pharaohs over some 2,000 years. The Great Hypostyle Hall, with its 134 colossal columns rising 23 meters, makes visitors feel astonishingly small. Dedicated to the god Amun-Ra, Karnak was the heart of ancient Egyptian worship and is now connected to Luxor Temple by a restored avenue of sphinxes.
