Overview
Begun around 1290 BC by Seti I, second pharaoh of the 19th Dynasty, this mortuary temple was left unfinished at his death and is believed to have been completed by his son Ramesses II. Located in the modern village of Qurna, much of the site lies beneath present-day houses, and it pairs historically with Seti I's own tomb (KV17) in the Valley of the Kings. Surviving remains include pylons, a courtyard, and hypostyle hall fragments, with rooms dedicated to Seti I bearing understated reliefs. Far fewer visitors than the major west bank sites make for a quiet stop. Admission is around EGP 120 for foreigners (subject to change). Sits along the road to the Valley of the Kings.
