Overview
Jantar Mantar is an open-air observatory built in 1724 by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur, comprising 13 geometric masonry instruments for measuring time, tracking stars, and calculating eclipses. Its largest instrument, the Samrat Yantra (giant sundial), could reportedly measure time to within two seconds — a unique fusion of astronomy and architecture. Walkable from Connaught Place. Foreign visitor entry about INR 300.
