Overview
Perched on a cliff above Kilifi Creek about 60km north of Mombasa, the Mnarani Ruins preserve the remains of a 15th-17th century Swahili settlement. A well-preserved coral-stone Great Mosque, a smaller mosque, and several tombs remain, with huge baobab trees growing among the ruins for a striking atmosphere. Views across the creek to Kilifi town and its bridge are also lovely.
