Overview
Wasini Island is a small coral island of about 5 sq km, located 80km south of Mombasa, beyond Diani Beach. It sits inside the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park, which has some of the Indian Ocean's richest marine life, and traditional dhow trips here include dolphin safaris and reef snorkeling. Lunch is a memorable Swahili home-style seafood feast - coconut crab curry, grilled lobster - followed by a walk along the coral boardwalk around the island. Day tour packages cost USD 80-120. About a 15-minute boat ride from Shimoni port.
Opening Hours
Boat tours typically 08:00-16:00
Travel Tips
The easiest way is a day-tour package from Diani Beach. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, and swimwear - the sun is intense.
