Overview
About 33km southwest of Mombasa, the roughly 300 sq km Shimba Hills National Reserve is the only place in Kenya where sable antelope can be seen. Elephants, buffalo, and various primates also live here, in a unique ecosystem where rainforest meets savanna. A popular walking trail leads to Sheldrick Falls within the reserve.

The trail to the waterfall must be walked with an armed ranger. Bring sturdy hiking shoes as the path can be slippery in the rainy season.
