Overview
Bomas of Kenya is an open-air cultural museum and theater bringing together the heritage of Kenya's 42 ethnic groups in one place. Full-scale recreations of traditional homesteads (bomas) from the Maasai, Kikuyu, Luo, Kalenjin, Kamba, and many other communities offer a clear overview of the country's cultural diversity. The highlight is the daily 90-minute traditional dance and music show, where elaborate costumes and explosive jumping dances captivate visitors. Close to the city, it works well as a half-day either side of a safari. Admission KES 1,500. Near Nairobi National Park.
Opening Hours
Daily 10:00-18:00 (shows: 14:30 weekdays, 15:30 weekends)
Travel Tips
Time your visit to the dance show (14:30 weekdays, 15:30 weekends). The replica homesteads are quiet outside show hours, and the gift shop after the show is great for Maasai beadwork.
