Overview
Once the heart of a Jewish community from the 14th century, Kazimierz was nearly destroyed in the Holocaust but has since revived as Kraków's most vibrant cultural quarter. Seven synagogues survive; the Old Synagogue, the oldest in Poland, now operates as a museum. It was also a filming location for Spielberg's 'Schindler's List'. Its lanes are lined with independent bookshops, vintage stores, live jazz bars, and traditional Jewish restaurants, buzzing day and night. Free to wander (museum admission separate). About 15 minutes on foot from Rynek Główny.
Opening Hours
Open 24 hours (Old Synagogue: 10:00-17:00, closed Mondays)
