Overview
A Gothic basilica on the eastern edge of Rynek Główny, recognisable by its two asymmetric towers. Inside stands Veit Stoss's wooden altarpiece (completed 1489), Europe's largest Gothic altar — the daily unveiling at 11:50 AM is a highlight. The ceiling and walls blaze with blue and gold decoration, and the hourly Hejnał trumpet call from the taller tower is Kraków's most famous tradition. Admission about PLN 20 (EUR 5). East side of Rynek Główny.
Opening Hours
11:30-18:00 (Sundays 14:00-18:00; access limited during Mass)
Travel Tips
Arrive early to get a good seat for the 11:50 AM altarpiece opening. A separate ticket lets you climb the tower for a square-wide panorama.
