Overview
Running since 1914, the yellow vintage Tram 28 climbs through Lisbon's seven hills along about 7km, connecting Graça, Alfama, Baixa, Chiado, and Estrela - the city's heart. Some sections are so narrow that only the tram can squeeze through, and the steep climbs feel like a gentle rollercoaster ride. The full journey from Graça to Estrela takes about 45 minutes, and the views from the window are a museum in themselves. Fare about EUR 3 onboard, or EUR 1.50 with a Viva Viagem card. Board at Martim Moniz or Graça to secure a seat.
Opening Hours
05:45-23:30 (every 10-15 minutes)
Travel Tips
Boarding at the Martim Moniz or Graça terminus is the easiest way to get a seat. Be especially mindful of pickpockets.
