Overview
Phuket's Big Buddha is a 45 m tall, 25 m wide seated image of Burmese white marble atop 380 m Nakkerd Hill — visible from almost everywhere on the island. Construction began through public donations after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and continues today; visitors are welcome to enter and contribute. The summit offers a 360-degree panorama of Chalong Bay, Kata and Karon beaches, and inland Phuket, with the statue glowing gold at sunset. Free admission (free sarong rental to cover shoulders and knees). About 15 minutes by car from Chalong Circle via a steep mountain road.
Opening Hours
Daily 06:00-19:00
Travel Tips
Arrive an hour before sunset to catch the statue bathed in gold light. The road is steep — use a car or Grab rather than a scooter.
