Ritidian Beach

Ritidian Beach

Yigo, Guam

Overview

Inside the national wildlife refuge at Guam's northern tip, development bans have kept Ritidian's sand blinding white and its water glass-clear — the wild antithesis of Tumon, with ancient Chamorro cave pictographs in the limestone jungle behind. Currents run strong, so swim only shallow on calm days (no lifeguards), take the rough unpaved access road slowly, and bring everything — there are no facilities. Check open days before driving up.

Opening Hours

Daytime only (confirm refuge hours)

🚇 Getting there

40 minutes from Tumon; the final stretch is unpaved — drive slowly.

⏱️ How long to visit

About 1.5-2 hours.

🌅 Best time to visit

Calm dry-season mornings (Jan-May); weekdays for that empty-beach shot.

Travel Tips

The refuge keeps daytime hours and closes in bad weather. Plan around walking and photos more than swimming.
