Overview
Al Ain Oasis is the UAE's first UNESCO World Heritage Site (inscribed 2011), located in Al Ain about 1.5 hours from Abu Dhabi. This oasis has over 3,000 years of history, with more than 140,000 date palms and fruit trees sustained by an ancient falaj (irrigation channel) system. Walk shaded pathways through a green oasis in the middle of the desert and gain insight into traditional farming methods and Emirati culture. Free admission. About 1.5 hours by car from Abu Dhabi.

Free entry; early morning is the coolest and most pleasant time. Combine with Jebel Hafeet mountain and Al Ain Zoo for a full day trip.
