Overview
At 85km2, Lake Arenal is Costa Rica's largest lake, beautifully framed by Arenal Volcano's perfect cone. Originally created for hydroelectric power, it's now a hub for windsurfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing. Strong afternoon winds make it a world-class windsurfing and kitesurfing destination. Driving around the lake offers multiple viewpoints of the volcano-lake duo.
