Overview
Hidden in the rainforest at the foot of Arenal Volcano, La Fortuna Waterfall plunges 70m into a natural pool reached by about 500 steps. A refreshing swim awaits at the bottom, surrounded by dense vegetation, butterflies, and birdsong, and well-maintained trails extend around the falls. The climb back up is a serious workout, but the payoff makes it worthwhile.

Travel Tips
The stairs are steep and often wet - wear non-slip shoes. Bring a swimsuit and waterproof camera, and visit in the morning when you have more energy.
