Overview
Consecrated in 961 as King Rajendravarman's state temple, Pre Rup is a pyramid-shaped temple mountain combining brick, laterite, and sandstone. The climb up its steep stairs is rewarded with a spectacular sunset view over the Angkor plain, making it a favorite among photographers. Its name, meaning 'turn the body,' is linked to theories about cremation rituals once performed here. Accessible with the Angkor Pass. About 20 minutes by tuk-tuk from Angkor Thom.
