Siem Reap

Siem Reap Province

Siem Reap

시엠립

The gateway city to Angkor Wat, where you can explore the magnificent ruins of the Khmer Empire. Sunrise at the world's largest religious monument Angkor Wat, the mystical smiles of the Bayon temple, and the fantastical tree-wrapped ruins of Ta Prohm are Siem Reap's three highlights. Lively nightlife on Pub Street and floating village tours on Tonle Sap Lake round out the offerings. Perfect for travelers who want to experience ancient ruins and Southeast Asian culture at once.

Best Season

The dry season (November-April) is best, especially the cooler months of December-February. The wet season (May-October) brings frequent rain but lush greenery.

Budget

Daily budget around 30,000-80,000 KRW (lodging 15,000-40,000; food 10,000-20,000; transport and admissions 10,000-30,000; Angkor Pass extra).

Transport

From Siem Reap International Airport it's about 20 minutes by tuk-tuk to town. Tuk-tuks or hired cars are convenient for getting around the city and Angkor. SIM cards (Smart/Metfone) available at the airport (about USD 3-5/week). Both US dollars and Cambodian riel are accepted; cash is the main payment method. Tipping is optional but small tips for guides are common.

Visa

Korean passport holders can get an e-visa or visa on arrival (30 days). Applying for an e-visa in advance is most convenient.

Safety

Tourist areas are generally safe, but watch for pickpockets and aggressive touts. Avoid isolated areas late at night.
