Overview
Jeju Stone Park is a large open-air museum exploring Jeju's volcanic activity, stone culture, and the myth of Grandmother Seolmundae, continually expanding since its first phase opened in 2006. Traditional Jeju thatched houses, dol hareubang stone statues, and the 'Five Hundred Generals' sculpture installation are spread across the grounds, letting visitors experience Jeju's nature and mythology on a walk. The indoor exhibition hall also explains how Jeju's volcanic rock formed. Admission KRW 5,000. In Jocheon, Jeju City, about 30 minutes by car from downtown.
Travel Tips
The grounds are extensive - wear comfortable shoes and allow plenty of time. Reading up on the Grandmother Seolmundae myth beforehand adds context.
