Overview
Formed by an undersea volcanic eruption around 100,000 years ago, Seongsan Ilchulbong is a UNESCO Natural Heritage Site. At the summit you can peer into a 600m-wide crater, and it's known as the first place on Jeju to see the sunrise. Nearby, a haenyeo (women diver) house serves freshly harvested seafood - well worth combining. Admission KRW 5,000. About 1.5 hours by bus from Jeju City.
Opening Hours
From 1 hour before sunrise to 19:00 (varies seasonally)
Travel Tips
Arrive at least 40 minutes before sunrise. The trail is steep, so wear comfortable shoes.
