Overview
Built in 1755, the Dutch Reformed Church (Groote Kerk) is the oldest Protestant church inside Galle Fort. Its trim white walls and red roof are emblematic of Dutch colonial architecture, and the floor is inlaid with 17th-18th-century tombstones of Dutch colonial officials, giving it major historical value. The garden's giant mango tree makes for a peaceful rest stop. Free admission (donations welcome). Inside Galle Fort, a 5-minute walk from the lighthouse.
