About 5km south of Galle, Unawatuna is a beautiful crescent-shaped beach sheltered by a coral reef that keeps the waves gentle. The clear water is ideal for snorkeling, diving, and surfing, with guesthouses and restaurants lining the shore. A sea turtle conservation project runs nearby, with seasonal turtle viewing. Free admission (beach). About 10 minutes by tuk-tuk from Galle Fort.
