Overview
Housed in an enormous 1671 Dutch East India Company warehouse, the Maritime Museum opened in 1992 to trace Sri Lanka's maritime history. Exhibits cover Galle port's trade history, Indian Ocean maritime culture, colonial-era ship models, and marine flora and fauna. The thick walls and high ceilings of the warehouse itself are a fine example of colonial architecture. Admission about LKR 600. Inside Galle Fort near the main gate.
