Overview
Standing at the southeast corner of Galle Fort since 1848, the Galle Lighthouse is one of Sri Lanka's oldest. Set against the Indian Ocean, it's the city's iconic photo subject, often with local kids playing cricket nearby. The waves and sunsets from the surrounding cliffs showcase the beauty of Sri Lanka's south coast. Free exterior viewing (lighthouse interior closed). At the southeastern tip of the fort, a 10-minute walk inside.
