Overview
About 25km southeast of Galle, Mirissa is one of Sri Lanka's most popular beach getaways, known for its beautiful crescent beach and whale-watching tours running November through April. Boats departing from Mirissa Harbor offer good odds of spotting blue whales and sperm whales, and palm-shaded hammocks along the beach make for easy relaxation. At night, beach bars offer live music and a party atmosphere. About 30 minutes by car from Galle.
