Overview
The Merenid Tombs are the ruined hilltop mausoleums of 14th-century Marinid sultans on the slopes north of the Fes medina. The tombs themselves are mostly crumbled, but the hilltop position offers the city's best overlook of all of Fes el Bali spread out below. At dusk, when the muezzin's call fills the medina, watching the sunset from here is one of the most memorable experiences in Fes. Free entry. Northern outskirts, about 10 minutes by taxi or 30 minutes on foot from the Blue Gate.
