Overview
Gulhi is a local inhabited island in South Male Atoll, connected to Maafushi by a public ferry every day except Friday. Much smaller and less touristed than Maafushi, it preserves a scene closer to the archetypal Maldivian fishing village, and its shallow surrounding lagoon is good for snorkeling and swimming. A small mosque, school, and modest shopping strip can all be seen on a 30-minute walk, making it a fitting half-day local experience. Ferry fare about USD 2-4. Departs from the Maafushi jetty.
Travel Tips
No ferry runs on Fridays - check the schedule. The island is small enough to cover in half a day.
