Overview
Xcaret is an 80-hectare nature and culture theme park about 15 minutes south of Playa del Carmen, gathering Maya ruins, underground rivers, caves, coral reefs, and rainforest. The most popular attraction is the 2-hour natural underground river snorkel, but there are 50+ activities including a Maya village tour, butterfly pavilion, jaguar island, and dolphin encounters. The nightly 7 PM 'Xcaret México Espectacular' uses 300 performers, music, dance, and folkloric costumes to retell 5,000 years of Mexican history - a Riviera Maya highlight. Basic admission $99-150; all-inclusive about $200. 15 minutes by car from Playa del Carmen.
