Overview
Completed in 1891, this is the Czech Republic's largest museum, standing majestically atop a hill at the head of Wenceslas Square. Its facade still bears bullet-hole scars from the 1968 Soviet invasion, and the building reopened in 2019 after an 8-year renovation. Highlights include natural history collections of minerals, fossils, and specimens, exhibits on Czech history, and the domed ceiling fresco of the central Pantheon hall. The rooftop terrace offers views over Wenceslas Square and the New Town. Prices vary by exhibition and may change, so check before visiting. Right at Metro Muzeum station (Lines A, C).
