Overview
Construction of this Late Gothic tower began in 1475; it was originally one of the gates into the Old Town. It earned its name after being used to store gunpowder in the 17th century. A viewing gallery at 44m of its 65m height offers views over the Old Town, Republic Square, and the spires of Týn Church. The tower connects directly to the Art Nouveau Municipal House, making the two easy to combine. Climbing the narrow, steep spiral staircase requires some stamina. Details may change, so check before visiting. 2-minute walk from Metro Náměstí Republiky (Line B).
