Overview
After WWII destroyed over 90% of Rovaniemi, the great Finnish architect Alvar Aalto designed the 1944 reconstruction plan — viewed from above, the streets form the shape of a reindeer's head and antlers. The Town Hall, Library, and Lappia concert hall surround the square, all Aalto modernist masterpieces.
