Overview
Just east of downtown Rovaniemi, the 200m Ounasvaara hill is a year-round nature playground. Winter brings 10 ski slopes and cross-country tracks ideal for family skiing, while summer offers hiking, mountain biking, and an adventure park. The summit gives sweeping views of Rovaniemi and the Ounasjoki River, and during aurora season, the low light pollution makes it a great viewing spot. Ski day pass about EUR 40 (winter); walking trails free. 30-min walk or 15-min bike ride from city center.
