Overview
Originating as a 9th-century Benedictine abbey and rebuilt in its current Romanesque form during the 11th-12th centuries, this is Lyon's oldest church. Inside, four granite columns repurposed from a Roman-era temple support the nave, alongside Byzantine-style mosaics and frescoes. Tucked in the quiet Ainay quarter south of Place Bellecour, it sees far fewer tourists. Admission is free. 5-minute walk from Metro Ampère-Victor Hugo (Line A).
