Overview
A central Lyon square since the 18th century, redesigned in 1994 by sculptor Daniel Buren with its signature 69 black columns and fountain jets. At its center stands the grand 'Fontaine Bartholdi,' sculpted by Frédéric Bartholdi (creator of the Statue of Liberty), while the 17th-century Lyon City Hall and the Museum of Fine Arts flank the square. Free to visit, with striking night lighting. Directly in front of Metro Hôtel de Ville (Lines A/C).
