Overview
Opened in 1857, this 117-hectare urban park is one of the largest in France. Rent a rowboat on the 16-hectare lake, visit the free zoo home to about 400 animals, explore botanical gardens with over 8,000 plant species, or wander the rose garden and deer park — there's plenty for families. In spring, some 30,000 roses bloom in fragrant displays. Perfect for jogging, cycling, and picnicking, it's the everyday escape of Lyon's residents. Boats rent for about EUR 6-10 per hour. Both the zoo and botanical gardens are free. The rose garden is at its best in spring.
