Overview
The 531m summit southwest of downtown ranks with Nagasaki and Kitakyushu among Japan's 'New Top 3 Night Views'. A 66-person ropeway then a mini cable car ('Morisu') carry you up to a panorama of grid-lit streets running to Ishikari Bay. A 'happiness bell', French restaurant and Ainu place-name exhibits share the summit, and the primeval forest of the mountain itself is a natural monument — daytime views of city and mountains are equally fine.
