Overview
Built in 1878 as the drill hall of Sapporo Agricultural College (now Hokkaido University), this Midwest-American wooden hall still rings its 1881 Howard clock on the hour — Japan's oldest working clock tower and an Important Cultural Property. Exhibits inside cover Dr. Clark and pioneer Sapporo. Jokingly ranked among 'Japan's three disappointments' for being hemmed in by office towers, it redeems itself upstairs with the drill hall and clock mechanism. It sits conveniently between Odori Park and Sapporo Station.
