Overview

A 105m-wide, 1.5km park slicing east-west through downtown — planned as a firebreak, now the city's living room. Early February's Snow Festival fills it with giant snow and ice sculptures drawing two million visitors; summer brings Japan's biggest open-air beer garden, autumn the Autumn Fest food fair. The TV Tower anchors the east end with views down the park's length, lilacs bloom in May and the ginkgo turn gold in October.
