Overview
Originally settled by refugees during the Korean War, Gamcheon was reborn as a tourist destination after a 2009 village art project. Its terraced rows of brightly painted houses earned the nickname 'Korea's Machu Picchu.' Wandering the alleys to hunt for murals and sculptures is part of the fun, and the view from the top of the village is unforgettable. Free admission (visitor map KRW 2,000). Take a village bus from Toseong Station (Line 1), Exit 6.
Opening Hours
09:00-18:00 (the village itself is accessible 24 hours)
