Overview
Founded in 1376 during the Goryeo Dynasty, Haedong Yonggungsa is uniquely built on seaside cliffs rather than in the mountains. Descend 108 steps to the main hall and Haesu Guanyin statue with waves crashing below - a famous sunrise spot. Tens of thousands visit on New Year's Day. Free admission. About 30 minutes by bus from Haeundae.
