Overview
Al Mahatta Museum sits behind the Immigration office building, at the corner of King Abdul Aziz Street and Al Estiqlal Street. The site became the Gulf region's first airport in 1932, when Imperial Airways used it as a stopover on the London-India route, and it reopened as a museum in 2000 after restoration. Exhibits include real aircraft such as the Douglas C-47, DC-3, and Avro Anson, plus artefacts like a black box. Admission is AED 5 for children (2-12) and AED 10 for adults (13+), with free entry every October 5th to mark the anniversary of the first plane landing there.
