The Blue Souk (officially Central Market) is Sharjah's iconic landmark and traditional market, striking with its blue-tiled exterior. Built in 1978, it spans two buildings with over 600 shops across two floors, selling gold, jewelry, Persian carpets, traditional crafts, perfumes, and spices. Its collection of handmade Iranian and Afghan carpets is among the finest in the UAE, and bargaining can land fair prices. The air-conditioned indoor market makes for comfortable shopping even on the hottest days. Free admission. Located on King Faisal Road, about 25 minutes by taxi from Dubai.
