Rain Room Sharjah

Al Majarrah, Sharjah

Overview

Rain Room Sharjah occupies a purpose-built exhibition space run by the Sharjah Art Foundation, located in the Al Majarrah district right next to Al Majarrah Park. Opened in 2018, it is the world's first permanent installation of Random International's celebrated Rain Room, previously shown at London's Barbican, MoMA in New York, and LACMA. Using 2,500 liters of recycled water and motion sensors, the rain pauses wherever a visitor moves, allowing them to walk through the downpour without getting wet. Admission is AED 25 for adults, AED 15 for students and teachers, and free for children under 5 and people with disabilities plus one companion.
