Located on the Corniche waterfront, the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization is the UAE's premier museum of Islamic culture. Originally built as a traditional souk in 1987 and converted into a museum in 2008, it houses more than 5,000 Islamic artifacts beneath a gilded dome ceiling. Four galleries trace Islamic science, art, and craftsmanship from the 7th century to modern times, with highlights including Quran manuscripts, astronomical instruments, and ceramics.
