Overview
Crystal Cascades is a series of waterfalls and swimming holes along the upper reaches of Freshwater Creek in the Redlynch Valley west of Cairns, and there is no entrance fee. A paved walking trail of about 1.2-1.5km leads from the car park to the falls, and it's roughly a 20-minute drive from central Cairns, though there's no public transport, so you'll need a car or taxi. It's open daily from 9am to 5pm; swimming is banned in some spots for safety reasons. Details may change; please verify before visiting.
